Memora Privacy Policy
Last Updated: July 25, 2026
Welcome to Memora, an AI-powered study app that turns your notes, PDFs, photos, or any topic you name into flashcards, quizzes, and AI-graded mock exams, and uses spaced repetition to help you remember them. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use our app (“Service”) on Android. By using Memora, you agree to this policy.
1. Information We Collect
- Study Material You Provide: Text you paste, PDFs you import, photos or pages you scan, and topics you type in to have AI generate study content. See Section 4 for how this content is handled and retained.
- Study Kit Content: The flashcards, quizzes, mock exams, and other study materials generated from your input or created by you.
- Study Activity and Progress: Your flashcard review ratings, spaced repetition scheduling data, quiz and mock exam answers and scores, Exam Rush times, written recall submissions, Feynman Mode conversations, study streaks, and other progress data needed to power the app's features.
- No Account Required: Memora does not require you to create an account or provide your name or email to use the app. A random device identifier is generated to track your study data and usage limits.
- Device Permissions: With your permission, Memora accesses your camera to scan pages and your photo library/storage to import images or PDFs. These permissions are used only to let you select or capture content to convert into study material.
- Automatically Collected Information: Device type, Android OS version, app version, app usage, crash data, and IP address.
- Payment Information: Subscriptions are processed securely through Google Play Billing. We do not collect or store your payment card details.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To generate flashcards, quizzes, mock exams, and other study material from the content or topics you provide.
- To grade your quiz answers, mock exam responses, and written recall submissions, and to provide AI feedback and explanations.
- To power Feynman Mode, where an AI "student" responds to your explanations of a concept.
- To schedule flashcard reviews using spaced repetition based on your self-rated recall.
- To track and display your study streak, progress, exam history, and Exam Rush records.
- To enforce free usage limits and manage subscriptions.
- To analyze app performance and fix bugs using aggregated analytics and crash data.
- To communicate updates or respond to your feedback.
3. AI Processing
Memora uses Google's Gemini models, accessed through Google Cloud Vertex AI, to generate study kits, grade quizzes and mock exams (including short answer and essay questions), power Feynman Mode conversations, and perform OCR on scanned pages and photos. The notes, PDFs, photos, topics, and answers you submit are sent to these AI services solely to generate your requested results. Your content is not used to train AI models. When AI-generated content includes a confidence badge or sources, these are provided to help you verify accuracy, but you should independently confirm anything important, especially for exams or professional certifications.
4. Content Storage and Retention
- Files and text you submit for processing (notes, PDFs, scanned photos) are sent to our cloud servers to generate your study kit and are not retained longer than needed to complete that processing.
- Your generated study kits (flashcards, quizzes, mock exams), spaced repetition schedules, exam history, and progress data are stored on our servers, tied to your device identifier, so your study data is available across sessions.
- Data in transit is protected using encryption.
- You can request deletion of your study data at any time (see Section 7).
5. Third-Party Services
Memora uses trusted third-party services to operate and improve the app:
These services operate under their own privacy terms, which we encourage you to review.
6. Advertising Identifier
Memora does not currently display third-party ads. If this changes, we will update this policy and, where required, request permission before accessing your Android Advertising ID (AAID).
7. Your Rights and Choices
- Memora Pro subscribers enjoy unlimited AI study kits, unlimited mock exams, priority AI generation, and an ad-free experience.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in the Google Play Store app, under Payments & subscriptions.
- You can revoke camera or storage permissions anytime in your device's Settings > Apps > Memora > Permissions. Revoking a permission may limit related features (e.g., scanning or importing files).
- You can request deletion of any data associated with your device identifier, including your study kits and progress, by emailing us at the address in Section 11. We will complete verified deletion requests within a reasonable time.
8. Children's Privacy
Memora is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If such data is discovered, it will be deleted promptly.
9. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed on servers located outside your country (for example, in the United States) in compliance with applicable data protection laws.
10. Updates to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected here with a new "Last Updated" date.
